We explicitly commit that Google user data will:
✓ ONLY be used to provide or improve user-facing features of TagFly
✓ ONLY be used for the specific tracking and analytics purposes described above
✓ Be stored securely and only as long as necessary to provide the service
We will NEVER:
✗ Sell your Google user data to third parties

How We Use Google User Data and API Scopes
TagFly integrates with Google services to automate and enhance your store’s analytics and advertising capabilities. Our use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
To provide our services, we request your permission to access specific data via Google’s APIs. Below is a detailed explanation of each permission (scope) we request and exactly how we use it to operate our features.
1. Google Tag Manager (tagmanager scopes)
Our app automates the complex process of setting up Google Tag Manager (GTM) for your Shopify store. This saves you from manual configuration and potential errors. To do this, we require the following permissions:
Scope | Justification (How We Use This Permission) |
---|---|
.../auth/tagmanager.readonly | To view your GTM accounts and containers. We use this to check if a suitable container already exists for your store, preventing duplication and ensuring we configure the correct one. |
.../auth/tagmanager.edit.containers | To create and manage GTM containers. If a GTM container doesn’t exist, our app will create one on your behalf. This is the foundational step for automated setup. |
.../auth/tagmanager.edit.containerversions | To create and edit tags, triggers, and variables. This is the core of our automation. We use this permission to programmatically add tracking tags (like GA4, Google Ads, etc.), the triggers that fire them, and the variables needed to pass data (like product SKUs and prices). |
.../auth/tagmanager.publish | To publish a GTM container version. After configuring the necessary tags and triggers, we need this permission to make the container “live” on your website. Without this, the tracking tags would not be active. |
.../auth/tagmanager.manage.accounts | To manage accounts permissions. (See PM Note below). This permission is requested to grant our application’s service account the necessary access to perform automated tasks. We will never add, remove, or modify permissions for human users on your account. |
Product Manager’s Note on tagmanager.manage.users:
This is an extremely sensitive scope and a common reason for rejection by Google. I strongly recommend you re-evaluate if your application can function without it. If you can remove it, your chances of approval will increase significantly. If it is absolutely essential, you must provide a video demo showing exactly why and how it’s used (e.g., adding a service account) and ensure your justification in the Google Cloud Console is crystal clear and limited to that single action.
2. Google Ads (adwords scope)
Our app helps you accurately track the performance of your Google Ads campaigns.
Scope | Justification (How We Use This Permission) |
---|---|
.../auth/adwords | To see, edit, and create your Google Ads data. We use this permission for two primary purposes: 1) To upload offline or server-side conversion data (including for Enhanced Conversions) to your Google Ads account for accurate attribution. 2) To retrieve campaign performance data to display within our app’s reporting dashboards, helping you understand your ROAS. |
3. Google Analytics (analytics.edit scope)
To ensure your analytics are set up correctly, our app can interact with your Google Analytics property.
Scope | Justification (How We Use This Permission) |
---|---|
.../auth/analytics.edit | To edit Google Analytics management entities. We use this permission to programmatically create or configure necessary elements like custom dimensions, audiences for remarketing, or conversion goals within your GA4 property. This ensures that the data sent from your store is correctly processed and reported in Google Analytics. |
